Five children fell out of windows this summer; EMS urges safety
The Emergency Medical Service reports that this summer it responded five times to children who had fallen out of windows. No cases were fatal, but permanent consequences are possible.
This summer, the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) has provided assistance five times to children aged two to nine who fell out of windows. One incident occurred from the fifth floor.
Although none of these cases were fatal, the EMS notes that consequences can be permanent, including severe emotional trauma. The service emphasizes that a fall from even one meter can cause a skull fracture, and a fall from the first floor can already be dangerous.
The EMS reminds that windowsills are not playgrounds – children should not be placed on them or taught to climb there. Furniture should not be placed near windows, and while airing the room, a child should not be left alone. The service recommends considering window safety solutions and talking to children about risks.
The EMS explains that children explore the world with curiosity and often do not understand danger. A few seconds are enough for an accident, so child safety is the responsibility of adults.
