Summer – the Best Time to Explore Latvia's Castles and Manor Houses
There is no exact count of how many castles and manors have existed in Latvia, but cultural heritage is preserved in many places. Their significance and an annual initiative to visit them are discussed by Roberts Grīnbergs, president of the Association of Castles and Manors of Latvia.

Latvia's landscape is dotted with numerous historical castles and manor houses, the exact number of which remains unknown. Over the centuries, these buildings have been rebuilt, expanded, merged, or have disappeared, yet a rich cultural and historical heritage persists in many locations.
Roberts Grīnbergs, president of the Association of Castles and Manors of Latvia, spoke about their importance on Latvijas Radio's program "Atspere". He highlighted the annual initiative encouraging people to visit these sites – especially in summer, when they are most accessible. Many historic buildings are given a second life thanks to individuals who restore and adapt them for modern use.
