The Paris regional public transport authority, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), warned in April of “unprecedented major works” scheduled for summer 2026. The disruptions, mainly between mid-July and mid-August, will affect RER, metro, Transilien and tram lines.

Travelers heading to Disneyland Paris face longer journeys: the RER A line section between Vincennes and Noisy-le-Grand Mont d’Est will be closed from August 8 to 23, and Nation station will be closed from June 29 to August 30. Shuttle buses from Nogent-sur-Marne will add over 50 minutes.

Passengers arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport will encounter delays on RER B, with its central section between Gare du Nord and the southern end closed from July 25 to August 16. Orly Airport travelers can use metro line 14, which offers a direct link to Paris.

The RER C line will be completely suspended between Paris Austerlitz and Versailles Château Rive Gauche from July 15 to August 22. Alternatives include Transilien N from Montparnasse to Versailles-Chantiers or Transilien L from Saint-Lazare to Versailles-Rive Droite. RER D between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon will have partial closures from July 25 to August 16, forcing many passengers onto metro lines 4 and 5. RER E will face disruptions from July 11 to August 7 due to extension works.

In central Paris, five metro lines will run on limited capacity. Line 4 will be closed between Les Halles and Montparnasse-Bienvenüe from July 6 to 24; tourists to Notre-Dame Cathedral can use Châtelet station and walk 10 minutes. Line 12 will be closed between Jules Joffrin and Concorde from July 16 to 26, and after 10 pm on several evenings; Montmartre is accessible via buses 40 and 80. Line 13 will have occasional closures from June, mostly Sunday mornings, with the section between Saint-Denis - Université and La Fourche completely closed from July 31 to August 17. For the Basilica of Saint-Denis, use line 14 and bus 235. Metro line 8 will have no service between Balard and Concorde from August 20 to 27, and République station will be closed from July 22 until April 2027.

Transilien lines H, K, L and P will be significantly affected, especially from July 25 to August 16, with full suspensions on H and K. Line P will operate on a restricted basis with replacement buses from July 13 to August 23. Tram line T1 will be closed from June 1 to August 31 between Bobigny-Pablo Picasso and Gare de Noisy-le-Sec, and from July 13 to August 28 between Asnières-Quatre Routes and La Courneuve - 8 Mai 1945. T2 will have no service between Puteaux and Charlebourg from July 13 to August 23.

Travelers are advised to check routes via the RATP, SNCF or Île-de-France Mobilités apps and allow extra time, especially during evenings, weekends and connections.
