Grandmother shocked by seeing Littler mural from bus
A mural in Warrington honouring two-time world darts champion Luke Littler left his grandmother amazed after she spotted it from a local bus. It was unveiled days after Littler's 11th PDC major title win.
A new mural in Warrington celebrates Luke Littler, the 19-year-old two-time world darts champion. The artwork, located on the side of the Golden Square Shopping Centre, was officially unveiled on Thursday with Littler present.
However, the day before the ceremony, Littler's grandmother had an unexpected encounter with the mural. While riding a bus through the city, she noticed the artists working on it. She got off to take a closer look and spoke to the workers. She then called Littler's father, alerting the family.
“My nan was on the bus yesterday. She actually came down here, she got off the bus and spoke to the guys that were doing it. Then, she phoned my dad and that's how I found out,” Littler told BBC Sport. “She was here before us. Unbelievable. I think that was always going to happen really. Very happy, family's happy. It's a great honour. I can't believe this happened.”
The mural unveiling came just days after Littler won the 2026 World Matchplay, his 11th PDC major title. Only Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen have more major titles. While Littler could potentially win every major title in a calendar year, Van Gerwen has dropped from fourth to seventh in the PDC Order of Merit, marking the first time since 2013 he has been outside the top four. Littler expressed hope that the Dutchman would return to his best form to compete with him, Luke Humphries, and Gian van Veen, the only three players to have earned over £1 million in prize money in the past two years.
