Police Special Unit Called to Vecmīlgrāvis for Intoxicated Man with Toy Gun
On Tuesday in Vecmīlgrāvis, Meldru Street, police arrived with a special unit and other services after reports of an intoxicated neighbor holding an object resembling a weapon. It was determined to be a toy pistol, and the man was taken to a psychiatric hospital.

An incident at an apartment building on Meldru Street on Tuesday drew multiple emergency services, including a special forces unit. According to witnesses, the scene included an ambulance, firefighters, and four individuals dressed in black, indicating the presence of a tactical team.
A first-floor resident named Staņislavs stated that all services were responding to a neighbor living one floor above. The neighbor had barricaded himself in his apartment and refused to come out. Residents observed that the 54-year-old man occasionally consumed alcohol, and on this occasion he was intoxicated and holding a weapon.
Police inspection revealed the weapon to be a toy pistol. Nonetheless, the man was escorted to medical transport and subsequently taken to a psychiatric hospital on Tvaika Street. Further details regarding the incident and the man's condition have not been disclosed.
