The State Police have told the Apollo.lv news portal that they have identified a person suspected of causing bodily harm in an incident in Riga's Old Town. The case involves an assault that took place on September 12 this year on Grēcinieku Street, where a young man sustained injuries after being beaten.

Police have not yet released further details about the case, including the identity of the suspected offender or the current condition of the victim. It also remains unclear whether the identified person has already been detained or formally charged, as well as what circumstances or motive led to the attack.

Location of the incident

Grēcinieku Street lies at the heart of Old Riga, an area popular with both tourists and locals, particularly in the evenings and at night, when its cafes, bars and entertainment venues draw large numbers of people. Incidents of violence in the historic city centre tend to attract public and media attention, given their relevance to both public safety and the city's image as a tourist destination.

The State Police investigation into the case of bodily harm is ongoing. Further information about how the case develops, including whether charges will be brought against the identified individual, is expected in the coming period.
