VEF Rīga to Start Champions League Qualification Against Azerbaijani Club
Latvian basketball club VEF Rīga will begin its Champions League qualification campaign against an Azerbaijani team. Subsequent rounds could see matchups with clubs from the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, and other nations.

VEF Rīga have learned their first opponents in the upcoming Champions League qualification tournament. The Latvian champions will face an Azerbaijani club in the first qualifying round, scheduled from September 14 to 20. Should they advance, VEF will then meet the winner of the pair between Czech side Opava and Polish team Warsaw "Dziki".
Potential semi-final opponents include Spain's Lugo "Breogán", German club Würzburg, Bulgaria's Samokov "Rilski Sportist", or a Manchester-based team. If they reach the final, VEF could face Greek clubs Patras Prometheus or Rodos Colossus, Turkish sides Manisa and Denizli "Merkezefendi", German team Vehta "Rasta", Portugal's Lisbon "Benfica", as well as clubs from Vienna or Geneva.
The tournament promises to be competitive, and VEF will need to overcome high-quality opposition to secure a spot in the Champions League group stage.
