Wakefield Trinity secured a hard-fought 26-12 win against Bradford Bulls on Sunday, moving up to second place in the Super League standings. Daryl Powell's side now trail leaders Leeds Rhinos by just two points after their eighth victory in nine matches.

The game saw Wakefield take an early lead through Tom Johnstone's try, but Bradford responded with Ethan Ryan scoring to level the scores. Will Tate's try gave Trinity a 10-6 halftime advantage.

In the second half, Jay Pitts extended the lead to 16-6 before Bradford's Chris Atkin brought the hosts back within four points at 16-12. However, Wakefield sealed the win late on with tries from Josh Rourke and Harvey Smith.

Bradford coach Kurt Haggerty expressed disappointment, saying: 'We aimed to win back-to-back games and beat a top-six side, but we fell short. It's a step forward, but we never want to be valiant losers.'

Trinity's victory strengthens their bid for a top-two finish and home advantage in the play-offs, with several tough matches still ahead.
