Katseye member Sophia Laforteza has decided to step away from the girl group to focus on her health. The band's label said she has been receiving strong support and consulting medical professionals, and has been advised to take extended time for rest and care to ensure a full recovery. The label emphasized that artists' health, safety and long-term well-being remain its top priority, adding that Laforteza's condition will be reassessed in September.

In her own statement on Instagram, Laforteza said the decision wasn't easy, but that she is learning health must come first. She said that if she doesn't take care of her mind and body now, she won't be able to keep doing what she loves for long. She thanked fans for their support and promised to work hard to recover and return stronger.

Second departure this year

Katseye was formed in 2023 with six members and received two Grammy nominations last year. The group will now continue its events with four members. It has previously said its members have faced numerous online threats, including death threats, since their debut.

In February, the label announced that fellow member Bannerman was also taking a temporary break to focus on her health and wellbeing. The 23-year-old Swiss singer has not yet returned, though the label has said she remains welcome to come back at any time. She told fans she was healthy and taking care of herself. The group said the decision followed open and thoughtful conversations among its members.
