Kulbergs wins most voter support, Līdaka most "against" marks in election
Election results show that Apvienotais saraksts (AS) candidate Andris Kulbergs received the most positive preference marks from voters, while his party colleague Ingmārs Līdaka received the most "against" marks.

Under Latvia's election system, voters can influence which candidates from a given list ultimately get elected by marking ballots "for" or "against" individual candidates by name. This means the final composition of elected deputies can be significantly shaped not only by the order a party sets on its list, but by voters' individual choices about specific people.
In the recent election, Andris Kulbergs, a representative of the Apvienotais saraksts (United List, AS), received the highest number of positive "for" marks from voters. This indicates he was among the most strongly supported candidates on the list.
The opposite was true for his party colleague Ingmārs Līdaka, who received more "against" marks than any other candidate in the election. This shows that a relatively large share of voters, when filling out their ballots, chose to express rejection specifically of his candidacy, even though both men represent the same list.
A split outcome within one list
The fact that candidates from the very same list simultaneously received both the highest support and the most rejection illustrates how differently voters can assess individual candidates even within one political force. The final election outcome, and which candidates receive mandates, is determined by tallying all the positive and negative marks voters gave to each candidate separately.
