Half of voters had cast ballots by 8 p.m. on election day
In Saturday's 15th Saeima election, more than 780,000 voters had cast ballots by 8 p.m., with turnout reaching roughly 50%, the Central Election Commission reports.

In the 15th Saeima election held on Saturday, October 3, at least 590,000 eligible voters had cast their ballots by 8 p.m., according to data compiled by the Central Election Commission (CVK).
In addition, more than 169,600 voters had already deposited their ballots for safekeeping ahead of election day, while nearly 5,000 people had registered to vote by mail. Combining all voting methods, more than 780,000 voters had taken part by 8 p.m.
Turnout nears the halfway mark
Current voter turnout stands at approximately 50%. The CVK noted that this figure is based on data from 991 of the country's 1,059 polling stations, meaning the final numbers could still shift once results from the remaining stations are tallied.
Voting at polling stations is set to close at 10 p.m., after which ballot counting will begin and the first results of the election are expected to follow.
