Police receive 20 reports of possible violations on election day
Latvia's State Police responded to 20 reports of possible violations during Saturday's Saeima election day as of 5 p.m., with administrative violation proceedings opened in four cases. Most of the reports received did not get confirmed.

Latvia's State Police received 20 reports of possible violations by 5 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the Saeima parliamentary elections, police representative Simona Grāvīte told the news portal Delfi. Administrative violation proceedings were launched in four of these cases.
Campaigning violations
Two cases involved breaches of pre-election campaigning rules. In the towns of Aknīste and Lestene, party campaign materials were found placed on publicly accessible advertising stands. Both cases were forwarded, according to jurisdiction, to the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) for further handling.
Public order violations
The remaining two administrative violation proceedings concerned disturbances of public order. In Daugavpils, a person disrupted the work of a polling station by failing to observe generally accepted standards of behavior. In Riga, another individual damaged informational posters displayed at a polling station.
Grāvīte noted that the majority of reports received by police about possible violations were not confirmed upon investigation. Checks into a number of other cases are still ongoing.
Cases are handled according to the responsible authority's jurisdiction — KNAB oversees breaches of campaigning regulations, while police deal with matters of public order.
