Cyclist dies after crashing into river
In Saulkrasti parish, a cyclist went off the road into the Pēterupe river and died; police are investigating the accident.
A cyclist died in Saulkrasti parish on Wednesday after veering off the road and plunging into the Pēterupe river. The accident occurred on Rožu Boulevard in Priedes at approximately 5:30 PM, according to the State Police.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Over the past 24 hours, a total of 130 traffic accidents were recorded across the country. In addition to the fatal incident, seven other people were injured in those accidents.
Authorities issued 360 administrative decisions for traffic violations, including 123 for speeding and four for aggressive driving. Four criminal proceedings were initiated for driving under the influence of alcohol.
