Wales see summer transfer moves ahead of Nations League campaign
Several Wales internationals have changed clubs over the summer as the team prepares for a new Nations League campaign, hoping to build on lessons from a recent loss to Bosnia.
A number of Wales players have completed club moves this summer ahead of the 2026-27 season. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow left Leeds United for Manchester United, while Harry Wilson, regarded as one of the standout performers of the Craig Bellamy era, moved from Fulham to Leeds.
Liverpool's young forward Lewis Koumas, who scored his first senior international goal against Ghana in June, is also expected to head out on another loan this season after spells at Birmingham City and Hull City last term.
Former Wales striker Ian Rush, who scored 28 goals in 73 caps for his country, said he had been impressed watching the squad in pre-season, singling out Koumas's progress and praising Wilson's impact off the bench in a Leeds win over Liverpool.
Upcoming fixtures
Wales open their Nations League campaign away to Portugal in Lisbon on 24 September, followed by a trip to Copenhagen to face Denmark three days later. Bellamy's side then host Norway and Denmark at Cardiff City Stadium in October. The campaign concludes in November with an away match against Norway before a home fixture against Portugal.
