Team Wales named for Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Wales has selected 114 athletes, including Olympic champions Emma Finucane and Matt Richards, to compete in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games from 23 July to 2 August.

Team Wales will consist of 114 athletes for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, scheduled from 23 July to 2 August. The squad includes Olympic champions Emma Finucane (track cycling) and Matt Richards (swimming), former world indoor champion Jeremiah Azu, and Paralympic sprinter Olivia Breen. The team comprises 66 female and 48 male athletes, aged 16 to 73, with 22 Para-athletes – the most para-events ever in a Commonwealth Games.
Chef de mission Gethin Jones said: "This group represents the very best of Welsh sport – dedicated, ambitious and proud to wear the red jersey." Gareth Davies, Team Wales Chair and former rugby player, added: "Announcing the team is always a proud moment, not just for the athletes, but for everyone involved in making this journey possible."
The netball and 3x3 wheelchair basketball squads are yet to be finalised. In artistic gymnastics, ten athletes will compete, including world championship silver medallist Ruby Evans. Athletics and para-athletics will have 18 athletes, featuring 2022 champions Aled Sion Davies and Olivia Breen. Eight bowlers, including defending men's pairs champion Daniel Salmon, are selected. Seven boxers include double Commonwealth medallist Rosie Eccles. Judo has eight athletes, while swimming and para-swimming has 21, including Matt Richards. Track cycling and para-track cycling has 19, including Emma Finucane and married couple Ciara and Lewis Oliva, who return after retiring in 2018. Six weightlifters make up the squad.
