One injured in residential fire in Ventspils

Over the past 24 hours, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) responded to 69 calls, including a fire in Ventspils that injured a person and a large building fire in Cēsu region.

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received 69 calls in the last 24 hours. Among them, nine were fires, 44 rescue operations, and 16 false alarms.

On the evening of July 9 at 21:38, firefighters responded to a fire in a one-story residential building on Znotiņu Street in Ventspils. The fire involved household items covering an area of three square meters. One person was injured. The fire was extinguished by 22:11.

Earlier at 07:39, firefighters were dispatched to Vaives parish in Cēsu region, where a two-story building with an attic was on fire, covering 1,280 square meters. Seven people evacuated from the building before the arrival of firefighters. During extinguishing operations, a firefighter required medical assistance but continued work after examination. Crews from Cēsis, Smiltene, Sigulda, and Valmiera were involved, and the operation concluded at 14:03.

Yesterday, VUGD also received 20 calls related to fallen or hazardous trees, with 14 in the Riga region, three in Zemgale, two in Kurzeme, and one in Vidzeme.

Other incidents involved fires in wires, a transformer, trash, a truck, and a sauna.
