Ventspils to host traditional Night Swim on Saturday
On Saturday, September 26, the Water Adventure Park in Ventspils will hold its annual Night Swim as part of European Sport Week. Participation is free and open to swimmers of all ages and skill levels.

On Saturday, September 26, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the large pool at the Water Adventure Park in Ventspils will host the traditional Night Swim event. It takes place as part of European Sport Week, held this year across Latvia and Europe from September 23 to 30 with the aim of encouraging people to become more physically active.
According to SIA "Olimpiskais centrs 'Ventspils'", the event is designed as a fun pool party open to active people of all ages. Its purpose is to promote swimming both as part of a healthy lifestyle and as entertainment, while also raising awareness about safe recreation near water.
Schedule and participation
Participation is free of charge, but swimmers must choose a group matching their skill level and register in advance. Speed and technique don't matter — anyone can take part regardless of age, gender or ability.
The event is divided into four groups: from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., a family group for those with low to medium swimming skills; from 7:45 to 8:15 p.m., an amateur and public group; from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m., a sports group for strong swimmers; and from 9:15 to 9:45 p.m., a pro group for very skilled swimmers. Participants must arrive 30 minutes before their chosen start time and may swim in any style for as long as they wish, up to a maximum of 30 minutes. Changing rooms will be available.
History
The first Night Swim in Latvia took place in 2015, drawing 500 participants nationwide who together swam 33,150 meters. Last year, the event attracted 1,016 participants, who swam a combined 807,000 meters.
