Ventspils and Riga host international Counter-Strike 2 tournaments
Over four days, Latvia hosted two major Counter-Strike 2 tournaments – the Baltic Supercup in Ventspils and Urban Riga Open 6 in Riga – bringing together local talent and international players.
At the height of summer, Latvia’s esports community went through a four-day marathon of Counter-Strike 2 action. Two sizable tournaments were held back to back, attracting the country’s top players and a number of international competitors.
The first stop was Ventspils, where the Baltic Supercup took place. The event brought together teams from the Baltic region for a series of tightly contested matches. Immediately afterwards, the action moved to Riga for Urban Riga Open 6. That tournament featured sides from several European countries, including academy rosters belonging to internationally renowned esports organizations. The presence of those academies gave the event a distinctly global flavor and raised the level of competition.
For Latvian esports fans, the two tournaments offered a rare chance to watch top-tier Counter-Strike 2 at home. For local players, they provided a valuable opportunity to measure their skills against opponents from elsewhere in Europe. The four-day stretch also showed that both Ventspils and Riga have the infrastructure and organizational capacity to host events of this kind. With the continued growth of competitive gaming, the summer’s double-header is likely to be remembered as one of the highlights of the domestic esports season.
