Vergara Bids Farewell to Virslīga with a Goal, Missed Penalty, and Disallowed Goal
Josué Vergara, sold to Belgian club Gent for €3 million, played his final Virslīga match, scoring a goal but missing a penalty and having a second goal ruled out.

In the 19th round of the Latvian Virslīga on Saturday, "Super Nova" lost 0:2 at home to "Auda." The match's central figure was Panamanian striker Josué Vergara, who was bidding farewell to the Latvian league after his €3 million transfer to Belgian side "Gent."
Vergara started the match and won a penalty midway through the first half when "Super Nova" defender Kristaps Romanovs fouled Rikuto Ida. Vergara stepped up to take the spot-kick but saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Sergejs Vilkovs, who guessed correctly and dived to his left.
However, Vergara redeemed himself in the 50th minute, heading in a cross from Bartelemý Djedjý to make it 1:0. That was his 14th goal of the season, placing him second in the Virslīga scoring charts. Five minutes later, Vergara could have been sent off for elbowing Romanovs in an aerial duel, but referee Artis Ķēniņš only showed a yellow card.
"Auda" doubled their lead in the 71st minute through Kader Koné. Vergara then scored again, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The match ended 2:0 for Auda, while Super Nova remain second from bottom in the standings.
