London - Max Verstappen's British Grand Prix qualifying was marred by persistent problems with his Red Bull Ford engine. The Dutchman ended up seventh, with teammate Isack Hadjar outpacing him for the first time in years. The last time a teammate qualified ahead was Sergio Perez in 2024; otherwise, Verstappen has been dominant in qualifying.

Over the radio, Verstappen sarcastically remarked: "It keeps getting worse and worse, and that's quite impressive." After the session, he explained that the car lacks top speed on straights, forcing him to stay on full throttle longer and drain the battery, making the final sector a disaster. "The engine simply doesn't work. It doesn't pull as it should. As a driver, you feel it," he said.

Asked about potential changes before the race, Verstappen was blunt: "Actually, there is no point starting if we leave the car like this. I would rather change everything. If we start from where we are now, we'll stay there. Maybe lose another position, and that's it." The British GP is scheduled to start at 15:00 BST (17:00 Latvian time).
