Storm causes little disruption to Riga hospitals, backup generators activated at Eastern hospital
A storm that swept through Latvia over the past 24 hours caused no major disruption to the capital's main hospitals, though backup power systems briefly kicked in at Riga East Clinical University Hospital.

A storm that hit Latvia over the past day has not seriously affected operations at Riga's main hospitals, according to information the LETA news agency received from hospital representatives.
At Riga East Clinical University Hospital, uninterrupted power supply systems were running during the storm, and diesel generators were also briefly activated, said Lineta Mikša, head of the hospital's public relations department.
Other hospitals unaffected
The storm did not significantly affect the operations of Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital. At the Children's Clinical University Hospital, several trees fell on the grounds and some branches broke, but this did not disrupt traffic or the facility's power supply.
