Storm damages disc golf course in Bauska's Ziedoņi Park, championship round postponed to September
A storm damaged the disc golf course in Bauska's Ziedoņi Park, forcing the cancellation of an August 23 championship round, now expected to be held on September 13.

A storm that swept across Latvia over the weekend left its mark on Bauska as well, damaging the disc golf course in Ziedoņi Park. Both the course itself and its equipment were affected, prompting a temporary closure.
As a result, the third round of the Bauska municipality disc golf championship, scheduled for August 23, did not take place. More than 40 participants had registered for the competition.
Club calls for volunteers
Jānis Rotbergs, a representative of the "Firebirds" disc golf club, said the storm damage affects both the course's condition and safety. Club members already spent Sunday and Monday clearing the park area, but without support from the municipality and heavy machinery, a full cleanup won't be possible. Rotbergs invited anyone willing to help with the park's restoration to get involved.
One basket and one tee area were damaged in the storm; the club plans to repair these on its own. If the work goes well, organizers hope to hold the championship round on September 13.
Young talent shines
The club also shared good news about its younger members — the Latvian children's disc golf championship recently concluded, with Markuss Rotbergs once again becoming national champion in the MJ8 category, while Karlīna Buša took third place in the FJ12 category.
