Storm damage could exceed several million euros, insurers estimate

Insurance company Balta received more than 350 claims for storm damage within a single day. Total losses could reach several million euros.

A storm that swept through Latvia over the past day has caused significant property damage, according to information from insurance company Balta.

The company told the LETA news agency that it received more than 350 claims from residents and businesses over storm-related property damage within a 24-hour period.

Estimated losses

Balta representatives estimate that the total material damage caused by the storm could exceed several million euros. More precise figures on the extent of the damage and the number of affected properties have not yet been released, as claims are still being processed.
