A person died on Saturday evening in Jelgava after part of a building's structure collapsed, while storm-related incidents were also reported in the Aizkraukle and Bauska regions.

A person died on Saturday evening in Jelgava after structural elements of a building collapsed, the State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to the LETA news agency through its representative, Viktorija Gribuste.
The incident coincided with other storm-related emergencies across Latvia. In the Aizkraukle region, a person was struck by a falling tree, while in the Bauska region a firefighter-rescuer was injured while responding to storm damage.
Response continues
According to the fire and rescue service, the incidents are linked to the effects of a storm that has required service personnel to respond in several regions of the country. No further details have yet been released about the identity of the person who died in Jelgava, the exact circumstances of the collapse, or the condition of the injured firefighter in the Bauska region.
The service representative noted that rescue teams continue working to address storm damage across multiple municipalities. Residents are being urged to exercise caution, particularly near older buildings and in areas with visibly damaged trees, as weather-related hazards may persist even after the storm itself has passed.
