Dashcam captures moment of multi-vehicle crash in central Riga
A dashcam video shared on social media shows the moment of a crash at the intersection of Bruņinieku and Avotu streets in Riga, which left nine people injured. A trolleybus, a State Police vehicle and two cars were involved.

A dashcam recording from a driver's car has captured the moment of a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Friday evening at the intersection of Bruņinieku and Avotu streets in Riga. The footage was posted on social media by a driver named Ruslans, offering a view of how the collision unfolded.
The crash involved a route 11 trolleybus, a State Police service vehicle (a Volkswagen), and two passenger cars — a BMW and a Renault. According to information the State Police gave to the LETA news agency, the collision occurred at around 5:04 pm.
Police explained that the police crew had been responding to a call at the time, driving with sirens and lights activated and passing through the intersection on a green traffic light. Two State Police officers were injured in the crash, along with the driver of the BMW.
Casualties and emergency response
Nine people in total were injured in the incident. The State Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) confirmed that all of them received medical assistance and were taken to medical facilities in stable condition with injuries of varying severity. Six NMPD medical teams worked at the scene.
At least four State Fire and Rescue Service vehicles and several State Police cars also responded to the scene. Traffic at the intersection was initially blocked but has since been restored.
