DTEK Thermal Power Plant Stops Generating Power After Russian Attack Waves
A DTEK thermal power plant has halted electricity generation after several waves of Russian attacks, with the company reporting significant equipment damage. DTEK says its thermal power plants have been targeted more than 230 times since the full-scale invasion, while power supply was completely lost in Mykolaiv and the Kherson community on the evening of September 8.
Russian attacks carried out in several waves against one of DTEK's thermal power plants have forced the station to stop generating electricity, the Ukrainian energy company has said. According to DTEK, the plant's equipment was substantially damaged and it has currently ceased power output.
In a statement, DTEK noted that its thermal power plants have come under attack more than 230 times since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. This latest incident adds to the repeated strikes that Ukraine's energy infrastructure has faced throughout the war.
Separately, reports from the evening of September 8 said electricity supplies had completely disappeared in Mykolaiv and in the Kherson community. It has not been specified whether these outages are directly connected to the shutdown of the DTEK power plant.
The company has not provided further details about the affected station or possible repair timelines.
