Driver Killed in Two-Car Collision in Ķekava Municipality

A driver died in a crash between a Volkswagen and a Toyota on Wednesday in Ķekava. The other driver refused hospitalization. Police are investigating; nationwide, 134 accidents were recorded in the past 24 hours.

On July 9 at around 11:40 a.m., a traffic accident occurred on road P90 (Rīgas HES–Pulkarne) at the first kilometer in Ķekava municipality, involving a Volkswagen and a Toyota. The Volkswagen driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle declined hospitalization. The State Police are investigating the circumstances.

Over the last day, 134 traffic accidents were registered across Latvia, injuring 13 people and killing one. A total of 450 administrative decisions were issued, including 189 for speeding and four for aggressive driving. Two criminal proceedings were initiated for drunk driving and one for driving under the influence of narcotics.
