10.1 million passengers carried by trains in first half of year – slight decline compared to 2025
In the first six months of 2026, Latvian trains carried 10.1 million passengers, 0.3% fewer than in the same period last year.

According to data from the company “Pasažieru vilciens”, the number of passengers carried by trains in the first half of this year reached 10.1 million. This is 32,000 (or 0.3%) less than in the first half of 2025.
Although the decline is marginal, it indicates a stable but not growing demand for railway services in Latvia. The exact reasons for the drop have not been disclosed, but it could be linked to seasonal or economic factors.
