Train hits pedestrian in Riga; disruptions between Imanta and Babīte
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Riga on Pureņu Street. The incident caused cancellations and delays on the Riga–Jūrmala rail line.

Incident on Pureņu Street
On Thursday at approximately 11:44, the State Police received a report of a traffic accident in Riga on Pureņu Street, where a train hit a pedestrian. The victim died from their injuries. Police are investigating the circumstances.
Unofficial crossing
According to witnesses, locals had created an unofficial railway crossing at the scene, which may have contributed to the tragedy.
Service disruptions
JSC "Pasažieru vilciens" (PV) reported that due to the accident, the 12:15 train from Riga to Dubulti was canceled. Several other trains are delayed. The 11:09 train from Dubulti to Riga is stuck between Babīte and Imanta, with an estimated delay of about 50 minutes. Similarly, the 11:09 train from Sloka to Riga is stopped at Babīte station with a delay of approximately 40 minutes.
