Sandis Vilmanis, the 22-year-old Latvian hockey player, made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) last season and played for the Latvian national team at the senior level for the first time. He quickly became the team's leading forward at the World Championship in Switzerland, where he scored 11 points (4 goals and 7 assists), tying the Latvian national team record. His performance helped the team achieve a historic sixth-place finish.

In an interview with TVNET+, Vilmanis said that playing in the NHL is mind-boggling, but he did not hide that the United States is not the dreamland it may appear to be from the outside. He highlighted the challenges of life off the ice and emphasized that the real experience differs from the external perception.
