Vilnius County Air Alert Lifted After Radar Contact with Drone
A brief yellow-level air threat alert in Vilnius County on Saturday was lifted after the military confirmed that the radar contact matched characteristics of a drone.

A yellow-level air threat alert issued for Vilnius County on Saturday was lifted shortly after it began. The Lithuanian military stated that the alert was triggered by a radar contact displaying characteristics consistent with a drone. The yellow alert indicates a potential threat under observation. After the alert was stood down, the status returned to white, meaning no air threat is present.
During the alert, residents received mobile phone notifications urging them to remain calm. Anyone spotting a suspicious flying or fallen object was advised not to approach it and to call 112.
Lithuania operates a three-tier air threat warning system. The yellow level indicates a potential threat under observation, while white means no threat exists. Shelters provide short-term protection, up to several hours, during an air threat, guarding against direct and indirect fire during military aggression, including strikes from aircraft, missiles, and artillery, as well as fragments, debris, blast waves, and stray projectiles.
Suitable shelter locations include underground car parks, garages, basements in residential and public buildings, pedestrian underpasses and tunnels, changing rooms, shower facilities, and basement areas in workplaces and sports facilities, as well as warehouses built from non-combustible materials. Upon hearing the civil defense air threat siren, residents are advised to make their way as quickly as possible to the nearest designated shelter, marked with an official sign, or to find cover in a ditch, trench, underground walkway, tunnel, or basement.
