Williams and Sheehan join Bellamy's Wales coaching staff
Former Wales captain Ashley Williams and ex-Swansea boss Alan Sheehan have joined Craig Bellamy's backroom staff as assistant coaches ahead of Wales' Nations League campaign. It marks Williams' first senior coaching role and Sheehan's first job since leaving Swansea.
Wales manager Craig Bellamy has strengthened his coaching staff by bringing in two new assistants — former national team captain Ashley Williams and ex-Swansea head coach Alan Sheehan. Both will join the setup ahead of the upcoming Nations League campaign.
Williams, 42, who has since retired as a player, earned 86 caps for Wales and captained the side during their run to the Euro 2016 semi-final. He holds a Uefa A Licence and has recently worked as a coach across several Wales age-group camps, but this new role marks his first position at senior international level.
Sheehan, 39, joins the Wales staff almost a year after being sacked as Swansea's head coach in November 2025. The former Republic of Ireland youth international has previous experience as an assistant coach, having held such roles at Swansea, Southampton and Luton Town.
