A man in his sixties has pleaded guilty to 60 offences against his wife at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, admitting to drugging and raping her without her knowledge over a period of more than 20 years. The man, who cannot be named in order to protect his wife's legal right to anonymity, had already admitted to some charges earlier in proceedings, including rape.

During the hearing, he repeated the word "guilty" to dozens of charges, which included multiple counts of rape, assault by penetration, and administering a substance with intent to harm. He became visibly emotional during the proceedings, and at one point the judge invited him to sit down in the dock.

Wife present in court

The man's wife watched the proceedings from the public gallery, supported by members of her family.

Twelve other defendants

Separately, 12 other men are denying multiple serious sexual offence charges involving the same woman. A 13th man has previously admitted to sexual offences against her.

The man from Stockport, Greater Manchester, will be sentenced on the charges he has admitted once the trial concludes. The case remains ongoing, with further details expected as proceedings continue.
