Hot air balloons spotted over Ilūkste, aviation agency says no cause for concern

Residents of Ilūkste noticed several hot air balloons in the sky, but the Civil Aviation Agency confirmed the flights had been approved in advance. The agency urged the public not to worry.

Residents of the town of Ilūkste recently spotted several hot air balloons flying overhead, prompting some concern among locals.

In response, Latvia's Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) clarified that the sightings were not unusual or unauthorized. According to the agency, the balloon flights had been coordinated in advance and were operating within Latvia's airspace with proper approval.

The CAA reassured residents that there was no need for concern, as the flights took place in accordance with established procedures and required permissions.
