Latvian top league's final round begins with packed Saturday schedule
Latvia's Virslīga football championship enters its final stretch on Saturday with three matches played in Liepāja, Tukums and Riga. Two more fixtures follow on Sunday.

Latvia's top football division, the Virslīga, opened round 28 on Saturday, August 29, marking the start of the season's closing rounds. Three matches were scheduled for Saturday, with two additional fixtures set for Sunday.
Grobiņa vs Daugavpils
At 15:00, "Grobiņa" hosted "Daugavpils" at the "Daugava" stadium in Liepāja. The home side entered the match seeking to end a three-game losing streak, having not won since July 5, when it defeated "Tukums 2000". "Daugavpils" continues its pursuit of fourth place in the table, a position likely to secure European qualification, though it had gone three rounds without a win. The two sides' three previous meetings this season each produced a different result — one win apiece and a draw.
Tukums 2000 vs Jelgava
At 17:00, "Tukums 2000" faced "Jelgava" at the Tukums city stadium. Both teams have managed only one win each over their last five rounds. Tukums beat "Liepāja" in early August, while "Jelgava" defeated bottom-placed "Ogre United" in the previous round. Their three earlier encounters this season were all high-scoring affairs.
Auda vs Super Nova
At 19:00, "Auda" hosted "Super Nova" at the "Skonto" stadium. "Auda" has not lost in the league since late June, when it fell to "Riga", and had won its last four league matches. "Super Nova" last beat "Auda" in late July, but has rarely taken points off them since 2022.
In the standings, "RFS" leads with 66 points, followed by "Riga FC" on 65 and "Auda" on 52. Oloko Ede tops the scoring charts with 21 goals, having played for both "Tukums" and "Liepāja" this season.
