Latvian Higher League: TV4 to broadcast Super Nova-Daugavpils and Ogre United-Jelgava matches
Two Latvian Higher League matches take place today, with Super Nova hosting Daugavpils and Ogre United facing Jelgava at home, both broadcast live on TV4.
Latvia's Higher League continues its 27th round on August 22, with two matches broadcast live on TV4.
Super Nova vs Daugavpils
At 15:00, Super Nova hosts Daugavpils at Janis Skredelis Stadium. Daugavpils has been in strong form recently, winning four of its last five matches, and recently secured a place in the Latvian Cup semifinal by defeating Ogre United. Super Nova's results have been mixed - the team lost its last league match to Liepaja but had beaten Grobina 2:0 before that, while in July it lost to bottom-placed Ogre United.
In their two meetings this season, Super Nova won once and the other match ended goalless. Daugavpils has not managed to beat Super Nova since autumn 2023. Daugavpils coach Kirils Kurbatovs will be without Raivis Skrebelis, who is serving a one-match suspension.
Ogre United vs Jelgava
At 17:00, Ogre United hosts Jelgava at Ogre Stadium. Since their win over Super Nova, the Ogre side has lost to Riga FC and Daugavpils and drawn with Grobina. Jelgava's situation is more difficult, having lost five consecutive league matches and having been eliminated from the Latvian Cup round of 16 by RFS.
The two teams have split their meetings this season, each winning once. Ogre United will be missing Tomass Mickevics, who is serving a suspension.
RFS continues to lead the league table, followed by Riga FC and Auda, while Ogre United sits at the bottom of the standings.
