Virslīga Round 24: Jelgava host Liepāja, Auda face Daugavpils at home
On Friday, July 26, two matches of the Latvian Virslīga take place: Jelgava vs Liepāja and Auda vs Daugavpils. Both games involve teams playing in European qualifiers – Liepāja and Auda continue their Conference League campaigns.

This evening, two matches are scheduled in the 24th round of the Latvian Virslīga. At 18:30, at the Zemgale Olympic Center stadium in Jelgava, “Jelgava” will face “Liepāja”. Later, at 19:00, at Skonto Stadium in Riga, “Auda” will host “Daugavpils”.
In the league table, “Jelgava” sits seventh with 25 points from 23 games, while “Liepāja” is fifth with 28 points from 22 matches. Both teams have struggled recently – “Jelgava” lost both Virslīga games in July and also the cup match, failing to score in any of them. “Liepāja” suffered defeats in July in the league (1:3 away to Daugavpils) and in the cup (0:1 against Auda), but secured two wins in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. On Thursday, Liepāja lost 0:2 at home to Austria Vienna, with the return leg next week.
In the two previous meetings this season, the sides drew 1:1 both times.

“Auda” is third in the standings with 40 points, while “Daugavpils” is fourth with 30 points. Both teams remain unbeaten in July – “Daugavpils” has wins over Liepāja, Ogre United, and in the cup against Riga Mariners; “Auda” drew with RFS, beat Liepāja in the cup, and achieved a sensational 3:2 away win against Romanian giants FCSB in Bucharest. Auda will play the return leg against FCSB on Thursday at Skonto Stadium.
