Ten-Man Kilmarnock Leave It Late Against Elgin in Scottish League Cup

Kilmarnock scored in stoppage time to beat Elgin City 1-0 despite being reduced to ten men. Elsewhere, St Mirren and St Johnstone recorded comfortable wins, while East Kilbride came from behind to win 5-3.

Kilmarnock needed a 93rd-minute goal from Joe Hugill to secure a 1-0 victory over League 2 side Elgin City in the Premier Sports Cup group stage, despite playing with ten men for most of the match after Jamie Brandon was sent off in the 37th minute.

In other Group H action, Hamilton Academical earned a bonus point by winning a penalty shootout against Raith Rovers after a 1-1 draw. In Group F, St Johnstone cruised to a 3-0 win over Greenock Morton, with Jamie Gullan scoring two penalties. Group C saw holders St Mirren defeat Cove Rangers 4-0, with teenagers Jalmaro Calvin and Luke Douglas scoring their first goals for the club.

League 1 newcomers East Kilbride produced a thrilling comeback in Group C, beating Dumbarton 5-3 after trailing 1-0. Cameron Elliott scored a hat-trick, and late goals from Darragh O'Connor and Craig McGuffie sealed the win. Queen of the South won 3-0 against Brora Rangers in Group A, while Montrose beat Stirling Albion 2-0 in Group B.

In Group D, Airdrieonians defeated Annan Athletic 3-0, and Ross County beat Clyde 3-1 with Brian Graham scoring twice. Stenhousemuir edged Brechin City 2-1 in Group E, while Inverness Caley Thistle beat Linlithgow Rose 2-0 in Group F. Ayr United won 2-0 against Edinburgh City in Group G.
