All Latvian Student Beach Volleyball Teams Advance to Second Knockout Round
On July 29, at the EUSA Games in Italy, all three Latvian university beach volleyball duets won their first knockout matches and secured a place in the second round.

The beach volleyball knockout stage of the European University Sports Games (EUSA Games) kicked off on Wednesday, July 29, in the province of Salerno, Italy, with the top 16 duets from European universities competing. All three Latvian teams were victorious in their first-round matches and advanced to the second round.
The tournament follows a double-elimination format, allowing teams to continue after one loss, but a second defeat means elimination.
First on the court were Latvijas Universitāte (LU) women's duo Anija Ozoliņa and Vanesa Grosberga. They defeated Hungary's Károli Gáspár University in straight sets, 21:9 and 21:15. In the second round, they will face a Slovenian university pair on Thursday at 9:50 AM.
Next, the LU men's team of Ernests Puškundzis and Olivers Bulgačs took on a Swiss university pair. They won 2-0 with set scores of 21:11 and a tightly contested 24:22. Their next match on Thursday at 10:40 AM will be against Vilnius Gediminas Technical University from Lithuania.
The last Latvian team to play was Rīgas Stradiņa universitāte (RSU) men's duo Gustavs Auziņš and Atvars Ozoliņš. They dominated Budapest University of Technology and Economics from Hungary, winning 21:4 and 21:10. On Thursday at 10:40 AM, they will face the University of Rostock from Germany.
