Witkoff and Kushner arrive in Moscow ahead of Kyiv visit
US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday for talks with Vladimir Putin, before a planned visit to Kyiv on Sunday.
US President Donald Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday ahead of their planned trip to Kyiv, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing Russia's TASS news agency.
The American delegation was met at Vnukovo airport by Kirill Dmitriev, a special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two US envoys are expected to hold talks with Putin on Saturday.
Kyiv visit expected Sunday
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on the evening of September 4 that the American negotiators were expected in Kyiv on Sunday. He stressed that Ukraine would not strike Russia during these days and expected reciprocal restraint from Moscow.
Trump has said that Witkoff and Kushner are bringing a "proposal to end the war" to both Moscow and Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Kyiv Independent reported, citing its own sources, that Trump's envoys were reportedly discussing alternative plans for the upcoming Kyiv visit due to intimidation from the Russian side.
