Vivi Adds Extra Trains for Summer Sound 2026 Festival in Liepāja
To facilitate travel to the festival, Vivi will operate five additional train services between Rīga and Liepāja.
Passenger carrier Vivi is adding five extra train services on the Rīga–Liepāja route to ensure convenient access to the “Summer Sound 2026” music festival, which takes place on 31 July and 1 August. The additional trips are scheduled both before and after the event.
From Rīga to Liepāja, extra trains will run on 30 and 31 July departing at 1:10 PM and arriving at 4:26 PM, and on 1 August departing at 1:55 PM and arriving at 5:11 PM. For the return journey from Liepāja to Rīga, additional services are set for 1 August at 5:55 PM (arrival 9:10 PM) and 2 August at 1:25 PM (arrival 4:51 PM).
Tickets for these trips are limited in number, with a guaranteed seat for each passenger. They can be purchased via the Vivi mobile app and website vivi.lv: from 21 July for trips to Liepāja, and from 23 July for trips to Rīga. The extra trains will stop at the same stations as regular services – Torņakalns, Olaine, Jelgava, Dobele, Biksti, Saldus and Skrunda. For safety, conductors will wear body cameras, and on 1 and 2 August the extra trains will also have security personnel on board. For inquiries about tickets or schedules, passengers can call the Vivi toll-free line at 8760.
The festival itself will feature over 60 artists, including Latvian acts “Bermudu Divstūris”, “Singapūras Satīns”, “Tautumeitas”, ansis, Deniss and others, as well as international headliners such as Hardwell, Alan Walker, “Sigma”, “Gogol Bordello” and Tommy Cash.
Every year Vivi operates more than ten additional train services for major cultural events. The allocation of such trips is based on event organiser requests submitted to the Road Transport Directorate, and the decision is made by the Public Transport Council, which assesses passenger flow, timing, and financial viability.
