Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, predicts that Ferrari will be able to regularly compete for wins for the remainder of the 2026 F1 season. Following Charles Leclerc's victory at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Wolff acknowledged that Ferrari has significantly closed the gap after introducing upgrades in Barcelona.

"We have to look at ourselves," Wolff said. "They said before the weekend that they would lack pace on this track. That didn't happen. They were a strong competitor, and that is to be expected from now until the end of the season."

However, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur is cautious, reminding that the team is still 78 points behind in the standings. "Title fight is your words," Vasseur responded to journalists. He emphasizes that the team is not focusing on the championship table but on gradual progress.

Despite the win, Vasseur acknowledges Mercedes' advantage in pure speed. "Honestly, they still have an advantage," he said. "If you look at seven sessions, they were ahead five times. But we had a good race."

Vasseur noted that Ferrari performs better in long runs thanks to strategy, while Mercedes' speed is decisive in sprints. "It will be tough, but let's focus on Belgium," he added.
