Volkanovski stops unbeaten Evloev in round two and sets UFC record
At UFC 333, a mixed martial arts (MMA) event, Alex Volkanovski beat previously unbeaten Evloev by technical knockout in the featherweight division. Petr Yan, meanwhile, kept his bantamweight belt with a decision over Merab Dvalishvili.

At UFC 333, held on 24 October, Alex Volkanovski beat Evloev by technical knockout in the second round. Evloev had not lost before the fight. UFC is the largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion in the world. The win sets a new record for Volkanovski, who has now won nine featherweight title fights.
The featherweight fight
Evloev was the more effective fighter early on, but Volkanovski took the initiative in the second round. A precise right hand rocked his opponent, who was then taken to the canvas as Volkanovski kept attacking on the ground. With six seconds left in the round, the referee stopped the fight and recorded a technical knockout.
Volkanovski, who is 38, became the most successful fighter in featherweight title bouts in the division's history with this ninth win. He passed Brazilian legend Jose Aldo, who had eight.
The night's second main event
In the evening's other headline bout, Petr Yan beat Georgian Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision after five rounds. The result means Yan retained his UFC champion's title in the bantamweight division.
Dvalishvili was more active at the start of the fight, but Yan took control later. All three judges scored the bout 48-47 for Yan. It was the third meeting between the two fighters, and Yan's second win over Dvalishvili.
