Volkswagen Group experienced a decline in fully electric vehicle sales in the first half of 2026. From January to June, the group delivered 438,500 EVs, down 5.8% compared to the same period in 2025. Total vehicle sales dropped by 6% to 4.13 million units.

The sharpest declines occurred in China and the US, where EV sales fell by 48% and 69%, respectively. In Europe, however, Volkswagen retained its market leadership, increasing EV sales by 8.4%. Among the group's brands, Škoda performed best with a 48% rise in EV sales, driven by strong demand for the Škoda Elroq. In contrast, Volkswagen passenger cars and Porsche electric models saw significant sales decreases.

Despite the current downturn, the company anticipates a recovery in Europe. EV orders in the region have increased by over 50%, and the new family of electric city cars has entered the market successfully, pointing to a potential sales boost in the coming months.
