Vučić concedes defeat to student movement in Serbian parliamentary election
Former Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić has acknowledged that the Student List won the early parliamentary election. He said it would take 135–140 seats against 105 for his side.

Aleksandar Vučić, the former president of Serbia, has said his camp lost the early parliamentary election to the student movement, according to Reuters. The vote came after almost two years of student protests against corruption and what demonstrators call his authoritarian rule, so the result marks a major shift in Serbian politics.
What Vučić said
Vučić noted that final results are not yet available, but said that based on a sample it is clear the election was lost. According to him, the Student List will win between 135 and 140 seats, while his side will have 105. He added that no other list made it into parliament.
Background
The snap election was called on 9 September by Vučić, who was still president at the time. He resigned from the post at the end of September.
The protests were triggered in 2024 when a railway station canopy collapsed in the city of Novi Sad, killing 16 people. Since then, the students have gained broad public support. Serbia's previous parliamentary election took place on 17 December 2023.
