Walmart offers $10 discount on Metroid Ravenous physical preorders
Retailer Walmart is offering a $10 discount on physical preorders of Nintendo's upcoming Metroid Ravenous for Switch 2, which launches in January 2027.
Nintendo is bringing the Metroid series back to its classic 2D side-scrolling format with the upcoming release of Metroid Ravenous for the Nintendo Switch 2. It will be the first side-scrolling entry in the franchise since 2021's Metroid Dread.
Retailer Walmart is currently offering the physical edition of the game for preorder at $59.88, a $10 discount off the standard $69.99 price. That brings the physical copy roughly in line with the cost of buying the game digitally. It's unclear how long the discount will remain available, as similar Walmart preorder deals have been known to disappear periodically.
Reveal and story details
Nintendo first unveiled Metroid Ravenous during its September 2026 Direct presentation, showing a fast-paced trailer that mixed cinematic sequences with footage of protagonist Samus dashing, rolling, and battling enemies and bosses across various environments. The story picks up after the events of Metroid Dread, in which Samus gains powerful new abilities. Ravenous appears to center on Samus fighting her way off a planet. Further details, including any new gameplay mechanics, have not yet been revealed.
Metroid Ravenous is scheduled to launch on January 28th, 2027. Players who haven't tried Metroid Dread can currently find it discounted at Amazon as part of a broader Nintendo sale running through the end of September.
