Wigan Warriors have moved to the top of the Betfred Super League table after a 26-12 home win over Wakefield Trinity.

The hosts dominated the first half, with Bevan French opening the scoring before Liam Marshall added two quick tries, putting Wigan 20-0 ahead at the break.

Wakefield fought back after half-time when Corey Hall crossed for a try, but Wigan seized the next big moment. As the visitors pushed for a second try close to the line, they lost possession, allowing Jai Field to launch a counter-attack and race the length of the pitch to score.

Ky Rodwell pulled another try back for Wakefield shortly afterwards, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

The result gave Wigan a club-record 12th consecutive Super League win, lifting them above Leeds Rhinos to the top of the standings. Wakefield Trinity remain in fourth place.
