The scale of damage to Russian online retailer Wildberries' operational network in Ukraine has become a matter of dispute, with sources citing sharply different figures.
Some estimates suggest that fires have destroyed or damaged roughly a fifth of the company's network. Other claims put the losses far higher, saying more than half of the network's infrastructure has been affected.
It depends on what you count
The gap between these figures largely comes down to methodology. Counting all facilities across the entire network produces a lower share of damage. But counting only the main logistics hubs — the sites that handle the bulk of throughput — can push the damaged share above half.
This distinction matters because even a relatively small number of destroyed facilities can have an outsized effect on operations if those facilities happen to be the key hubs through which most goods flow.
Not every claim checks out
At the same time, some of the most widely circulated and dramatic claims about the extent of the damage do not survive closer verification. This suggests that public and media narratives around Wildberries' losses do not always reflect the actual situation on the ground.
The precise overall scale of the damage remains unclear, and estimates continue to vary depending on the methodology and data used.
