US retailer Williams Sonoma is running a “factory seconds” sale on All-Clad cookware, offering pieces with damaged packaging or minor blemishes at reduced prices. The sale was highlighted by Wired, the technology and consumer products publication. All-Clad is a premium maker of pans and pots, and Wired's reviews team regards its products as long-term purchases, so the discounts may appeal to shoppers looking to expand their kitchen collection.

A full set of All-Clad pots costs about $800, so the article's author suggests building a collection gradually by buying only the pieces needed. The sale site states the specific flaw on each item, and every piece comes with the same limited lifetime warranty as regular All-Clad cookware.

Terms of the sale

Shoppers must enter an email address to access the sale. The author says that doing so produced a coupon for free shipping on orders over $60. All sales are final, and quantities are limited and may not be restocked.

Examples of deals

One offer is a 7-quart Sunday Supper sauté pan for $180. It has straight sides and is oven-safe up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit, including under a broiler. The author owns the same pan and calls it versatile.

Kitchen shears are also on sale, and the author says they would be their first pick. A roasting pan is listed at what the seller, Home and Cook Sales, calls its lowest price ever, though it comes without a rack; replacement racks can be bought separately for under $30. A set with a 12-inch frying pan, a 2-quart saucepan and a 4-quart sauté pan, all with lids, is sized for one or two people.

Other items include a larger pot for stock, pasta or soup, odd-size measuring cups (⅔, ¾ and 1.5 cups), a 1-quart saucepan that holds 4 cups, and an oven-to-table pot that comes with matching oven mitts.
