Withings now charges new users for syncing health data to other apps

Withings, maker of fitness-tracking smartwatches and smart scales, now requires a Withings Plus subscription for new accounts created from October 13th to automatically sync data to third-party apps. Existing users keep the feature for free.

Withings, a maker of health and fitness devices, has introduced a change to its service: new users who want their health data to sync automatically to third-party apps such as Apple Health or Google Health will now have to pay. The change applies to owners of its smartwatches and smart scales whose accounts were created on October 13th, 2026, or later.

According to a discussion on Withings' support forums, spotted by MacRumors, the "automatic sync to third-party apps" feature will require a Withings Plus subscription for such accounts. The subscription costs $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year.

Free trial

Withings devices come with a one-month free trial that includes syncing to third-party apps. When the trial ends, syncing is paused, but data already transferred to those apps is not deleted.

Existing users

People whose Withings accounts were created on or before October 12th, 2026, will keep automatic third-party syncing at no cost, according to official comments from a member of the company's support team. Because the feature is linked to the account rather than to a specific device, those users will still have free syncing if they buy and register new watches, scales or other Withings hardware.
